Prision Ministry

The Belmont Prison ministry began in September of 2005. For the first 3 years, the team worked at I.W. Davis probation facility in Jefferson, Ga. During those years, the team developed a rapport with the inmates and saw hundreds come to know the Lord Jesus as Savior. From January 2008 to October 1, 2008, 96 inmates accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

The Belmont Prison ministry team does not do church in a traditional manner. The team realized early on that inmates relate more when the members of the team are “on their level.” It is common for the drummer to give his sticks to an inmate and allow the prisoner to come up and play, or for other players to give their instruments to the inmates. It is also common to have a time in which the music is led by the inmates. This has allowed the prison ministry team members to develop relationships with the men in the facility. The word has spread to other inmates and many prisoners have come to church that would not normally come. As a result, many lives have been changed for the Lord.

In October of 2008, I.W. Davis closed due to budget cuts by the state. The Belmont Prison team is currently investigating other venues for ministry; however, the team knows one thing for sure, God is not done working!!!  The team is excited about what the Lord has for them now.
